Security

Cyber Security is the protection of computer system and network from information disclosure, theft or damage to their hardware, software, and/or data, as well as from the disruption of the services they provide.

You maybe well versed, what will happen if the safety of any area gets compromised, then the protection of that region will be in great danger. In that same way, is our online safety where we need protection in Cyber Space which is about securing everything connected to the Internet or intranet (personal or small network). Also, they are like being the First Line of Defense in the Always-connected digital world f ours where we live today.

Data Is The New Oil

If our precious data and services are not protected then our data would be in great danger & could easily get slipped into bad hands, who would then use this information to threaten or harm our digital rights. So, to safeguard our network & our rights we want these guys who work to secure the digital infrastructure. Thus, safeguarding our privacy & digital rights.

These Security people spun into multiple Domain's Like -

  1. Hacker
  2. Cracker

3. Malware Analyzer

4. Malware Tester

5. Virus Analyzer

6. Virus Tester

7. Cyber Activist

And much more but you got the idea of what there is for us.

So, you may have heard about hackers? Do you know what a hacker is? What work does they do? Why hacker is a terrifying word? And why does the media always play with this word?

Hacker

A hacker is someone who uses his knowledge of Computer Systems, Networking, OS, Computer Architecture, etc. to “access someone’s computing device with permission” i.e. One who uses their computer penetration knowledge for “Good”

Also, called White Hat, they uses their knowledge for good and you usually find them in Organization’s, Governments around the world for securing users data, their networks, and most importantly their digital infrastructure.

But, what about what we heard in the media?

Hacker

Well, what you have heard is “bad” about hacker from TV, Social Media, they actually refer to crackers.

Unfortunately, Hacker's and Cracker’s are often used interchangeably.

Cracker

These uses their knowledge to crack the computing device & access it without the owner’s concern. Prominent countries like Pakistan, China, Russia, Iran, etc. have these styles of crackers who work to assist Governments to comprehend other country’s internal information & potential threats before it happens.

Also, called Black Hat, they uses it for destruction or accessing the system without the owner’s permissions. They are usually found in countries like China, Russia, Iran etc. who time again attempt to spy & cyber-attack their opponent’s countries.

Grey Hat

Grey one harnesses qualities of both of those two & they either work on their own that is freelancing or functioning on contracts with individuals, Governments, Organization’s, etc. Countries like India, the USA, UK have White hat Hackers who work with Governments to secure their digital infrastructure.

Have you used or had an Antivirus before?

Asking this question seems silly as everybody has one, & yes this is that software only which blocks useful things when we require it.

But do you know?

There exist testers and programmers who work day and night, writing, researching, coding, finding, manipulating the antivirus software in such a way that’s just the right amount of excellence so it could find viruses, quarantine or throw them out from your computing device. Famous software being Quick Heal, McAfee, etc.

There exist these persons who test these viruses, by analyzing, testing, writing reports, & finding them. They also work for companies, organizations, or as a freelancer, one who works according to his time & needs. These collectively work in Antivirus companies & test viruses against their software.

Anti-Malware software

But what is malware? Well, Malwares are Malicious Software. These Anti-Malware software’s scans your computing device for malware, whose goal is to corrupt, erase or destroy your system, in such a way that just can’t be found easily.

Here comes, Malware testers, test this software against malware, & they regularly update their malware definitions to remove any malware that your system may have.

So, how do the media get reports of secret Governments digital plans or mass surveillance, or even spying? Well, it’s because of Cyber Activist

Cyber Activist

They work to let people know there's Governments bad deeds on people & to unmask mass surveillance, spying & making people attentive & aware of these things.

Lastly, this field creates and has more job than the current workforce available in the market and had not faced unemployment till yet and won’t ever face it thanks to 5G, IoT, Automation, Robotics and what’s not.

This is just the basics and sky is the limit here!
